Bions are energy vesicles representing transitional stages in the organization of matter, from the non-living to the living state. They are constantly formed in nature through the decomposition of organic matter, and through deconstruction of inorganic matter. This process can be replicated in an experiment. Bions are charged with orgone, i.e. with the energy of life<\/em>, and under specific conditions can develop into protozoa.<\/p>\n

They are transitional forms which appear during the organization of matter from a non-living to a living state and are always found in decomposing organic matter. They also form during the deconstruction of inorganic matter, under specific conditions of course. Bions of organic or inorganic origin display, when compared to each other, different morphological characteristics, but they share common qualitative traits as regards to pulsation and motility, which point to their living-like functioning. Reich claimed that the long term culture of organic bions, under controlled sterile conditions so that the possibility of outside infection (from air \u201cgerms\u201d) is excluded, can lead to the development of protozoa. The \u201cHeraclitus\u201d Laboratory of Microscopic Research is conducting experiments of preparation, microscopic observation and culturing of bions, in order to control Reich\u2019s claims and identify, if possible, the developing protozoa.<\/p>\n

The verification of Reich\u2019s scientific hypothesis regarding the bions and their relationship to non-living and living matter dynamically enhances the concept of continuous creation proposed by evolutionary biology and establishes in a substantiated, i.e. scientific, way on the one hand the idea that life is the highest level in the evolution of matter and on the other that creative evolution is still going on as a result of mutations and differentiations of cosmic orgone energy.<\/p>\n
