Director of the Microscopic Observation Laboratory is Nassos Teopoulos M.D.

The Microscopic Observation Laboratory began its function in 2002, by purchasing a Zeiss Axioskop 2 plus, light field and dark field trinocular optical microscope. It is equipped with a 0,9 H-D-PH achromatic-aplanatic condenser; a CCD camera for video recording and photography (Sony color video camera, digital, exwave HAD); two sets of eyepiece lenses (PL 10x/25 foc & PL 16x/16 foc); three Plan-Apochromatic objective lenses (10x/0,45, 40x/0,95 com, 100x/1,40 oil iris) and one Plan-Neofluor objective (63x/0,95cov). The microscope is equipped with a system of an additional optical magnification (Optovar 1,5x & 2,5x) so that it reaches a magnification of 4000x. Recently (2012), a new dark field condenser of particular clarity (Ultra DF Condenser Zeiss 1,2/1,4) was acquired, providing the ability for almost three dimensional observation of live preparations. The laboratory equipment includes: a digital incubator (Kangle HH B11-TBS), a steam autoclave sterilizer (Sturdy SA-232x), a dry sterilizer (Τau Steril 2000), a precision scale (Kern, EMB 220-1) and other pertinent equipment.

Since 2012, the laboratory’s technician-in-charge is Ms. Despina Malkotsi.
